Position Overview: The Jr. Designer of FF&E is responsible for assisting in selecting and managing furniture, lighting, and fabric elements for various projects. This entry-level role involves supporting the FF&E Design Team in ensuring that selected pieces align with the overall design vision and meet the client’s functional and aesthetic needs. The Jr. Designer will work closely with the Sr. and Project Designers, the Technical Team and the Procurement Team to successfully implement FF&E elements from concept to installation.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Selections:

  • Assist in the selection process for furniture, lighting, and fabrics, ensuring they align with the project’s design direction and client requirements.

  • Assist in visiting vendors and showrooms to collect samples and review material options.

  • Collaborate with the design team to support the development of furniture layouts and customization details.

  • Provide input to ensure selections meet essential functional and aesthetic criteria, with guidance from the Sr. Designers.

  • Aid in preparing presentations related to FF&E, including lighting, window treatments, rugs, and accessories, and organize schedules and binders for handoff to the procurement team.

  • Assist with organizing materials for handoff to the Procurement Department and the Technical Department.

  • Participate in internal review meetings, incorporating feedback and assisting with revisions.

Vendor Coordination:

  • Support the Designers in maintaining relationships with vendors for furniture, lighting, and drapery.

  • Assist in reviewing design details, finishes, and customizations during the production process.

  • Help ensure final products meet design expectations, making minor adjustments as directed.

Installation:

  • Provide on-site support while installing furniture and custom items, ensuring placement aligns with the design plan.

  • Assist the visuals team with final touches to ensure the project is ready for client move-in.

  • Participate in the final review of installations, helping to confirm that all elements meet expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Furniture Design, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of experience in FF&E design, with some exposure to residential or commercial projects.

  • Basic understanding of furniture layout, custom design, and finishes.

  • Ability to support the development and maintenance of relationships with vendors.

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Detail-oriented with organizational skills and the ability to assist in managing projects.

  • Being able to travel day by day is a must.

  • Ability to travel to project sites and vendors as needed.

  • Capable of assisting with the physical aspects of on-site installations.

Position Overview: The Senior Interior Designer supports and helps lead Feiner Design Co.’s design projects from concept through completion, ensuring each project is thoughtful, organized, cohesive, and aligned with the studio’s design standards.

This role is responsible for translating the Founder + Principal Designer’s vision into clear design direction, refined presentations, organized selections, coordinated documentation, and well-executed interiors. The Senior Interior Designer will work across FF&E, construction coordination, technical support, vendor communication, client presentations, procurement handoff, and installation planning.

The ideal candidate is design-driven, highly organized, technically aware, and comfortable working within a boutique studio environment. This person should be able to move between creative concept development, detailed documentation, client communication, and the practical realities of construction, procurement, and installation.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Selections:
Lead and support the development of full design concepts, including space planning, finish direction, furniture layouts, lighting, textiles, art, styling, and architectural details.

Select and specify furniture, lighting, rugs, fabrics, window treatments, accessories, art, tile, flooring, plumbing, cabinetry hardware, paint, wallcoverings, and other interior finishes.

Develop mood boards, material palettes, furniture plans, finish schemes, client presentations, schedules, tear sheets, and specification documents.

Ensure all selections align with the project’s design direction, client goals, budget, timeline, functional needs, and overall aesthetic vision.

Review floor plans, elevations, cabinetry layouts, lighting plans, finish schedules, and design details for consistency and accuracy.

Participate in client meetings, internal design reviews, showroom visits, vendor meetings, and site visits.

Incorporate client and team feedback into revisions while maintaining the overall design intent.

FF&E Coordination:
Lead and support FF&E development, including furniture, lighting, rugs, fabrics, window treatments, accessories, art, styling, and custom pieces.

Request and review pricing, lead times, finish samples, dimensions, customization options, stock status, and product details.

Prepare and organize FF&E schedules, product specifications, tear sheets, approval documents, and procurement handoff materials.

Coordinate with vendors, showrooms, workrooms, receivers, installers, and procurement support to ensure selected pieces are accurately documented and executed.

Review quotes, CFA samples, shop drawings, custom details, and order information for accuracy.

Help maintain organized product trackers, sample libraries, approval logs, and installation plans.

Construction & Technical Coordination:
Collaborate with builders, architects, architectural designers, and trades to support the execution of the design plan.

Review site conditions, measurements, rough-in locations, finish transitions, cabinetry details, lighting placement, plumbing fixture locations, tile layouts, and material applications.

Provide design input during new construction, renovation, furnishing, and installation phases.

Assist with redlines, drawing markups, finish notes, schedules, reference images, and specifications to clearly communicate design intent.

Identify potential issues related to scale, proportion, clearances, sequencing, constructability, budget, lead times, and installation.

Help ensure documentation is accurate, organized, and aligned with Feiner Design Co.’s standards.

Vendor Coordination:
Maintain and develop relationships with vendors, showrooms, fabricators, trades, receivers, workrooms, and installers.

Coordinate details related to furniture, lighting, drapery, upholstery, custom pieces, materials, finishes, shipping, receiving, and delivery.

Follow up on quotes, samples, order status, vendor questions, lead times, backorders, damages, and substitutions.

Work with procurement support to ensure selections are properly documented, approved, ordered, tracked, and prepared for installation.

Help resolve vendor, product, lead-time, or construction-related issues as they arise.

Client Relations:
Serve as a key support contact for client communication, meeting follow-ups, design updates, and project coordination.

Prepare for and participate in client presentations, site meetings, design meetings, and project reviews.

Communicate design recommendations clearly and professionally.

Help manage client expectations around selections, revisions, approvals, timelines, budgets, procurement, and installation.

Support the Founder + Principal Designer in maintaining a polished, organized, and thoughtful client experience.

Installation:
Provide on-site support during furniture deliveries, installations, styling days, and project reveals.

Oversee or assist with furniture placement, rug layouts, lighting placement, accessory styling, art placement, bedding, drapery, and final layers.

Confirm that installed pieces align with the approved design plan and overall project vision.

Assist with resolving installation-day issues quickly and professionally.

Participate in final walkthroughs and project reviews to ensure all elements meet Feiner Design Co.’s standard of quality.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field preferred.

5+ years of interior design experience, with experience in residential, renovation, new construction, boutique commercial, or full-service interiors preferred.

Strong portfolio demonstrating refined interiors, space planning, finish selections, furnishings, and project execution.

Strong understanding of space planning, scale, proportion, materiality, furnishings, finishes, and architectural details.

Experience selecting and specifying FF&E, lighting, fabrics, rugs, window treatments, tile, flooring, plumbing, cabinetry hardware, paint, art, and accessories.

Ability to read and interpret floor plans, elevations, finish schedules, lighting plans, cabinetry drawings, and construction documents.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Houzz Pro, Studio Designer, Programa, Notion, or similar design/project management platforms preferred.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work professionally with clients, vendors, builders, architects, and trades.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple moving parts across several projects.

Comfortable attending site visits, vendor meetings, showroom appointments, installations, and client meetings.

Ability to travel locally to project sites and vendors as needed.

Capable of assisting with the physical aspects of on-site installations, including styling, unpacking, placing accessories, and light lifting.
